Canon expands its Powershot digital camera series with the 10 Megapixel SD890 (Ixus 970) IS, SD790 IS (Ixus 90) IS and SD770 IS (Ixus 85) IS. The model SD890 features a 5x optically image stabilized, zoom lens and a 2.5-inch LCD display. The SD790 offers a 3x optical zoom lens and a 3-inch LCD display, and the SD770 offers a 3x optical zoom lens too and a 2.5-inch LCD display. The cameras will become available in the period from the end of March to mid-April for $399.99, $349.99 and $299.99 respectively...

Next we have the PowerShot SD770 and SD790. Officially they replace the SD750, but they have a lot in common with the SD1000 as well (which has since been replaced by the SD1100).

Canon today added a trio of new ultra-compact cameras to their Digital ELPH lineup. Canon's model numbering for the ELPHs is about as confusing as humanly possible, but I think I can safely say that the PowerShot SD770 and SD790 replace the SD750, with the SD890 more-or-less replacing the SD850.

All three new 10-megapixel models build on trends seen throughout Canon's new models this year, coming equipped with Motion Detection and Optical Image Stabilization technologies, DIGIC III processing, and Face Detection. Notable lineup updates include the aggressive and angular SD790 and the SD890's addition of a 5x zoom model to the SD series.

Canon has today announced two new additions to its line of Powershot SD compact cameras, the Powershot SD790 (IXUS 90 in Europe) and the Powershot SD770 (IXUS 85 in Europe).
