Leica has announced the 37.5 megapixel CCD sensor autofocus S2 DSLR designed for professional photographers. The new S2 is centered around a 30×45mm sensor which is 56% larger than 35mm full-frame. The S-system utilizes a new dual shutter with an in-body focal plane shutter for fast lenses and in-lens leaf shutters for high flash sync speeds. The S-2 features a weatherproof body similar to 35mm type DSLRs. Maestro, the image image processing system yields twice the operating speed of current medium-format backs, reduced power consumption, and allows creation of in-camera JPEGs.
