Nikon has announced four new Coolpix S-series ultra compact cameras. The S560, S610, S610c and S710 offer a variety of zoom ranges and megapixel counts. The S710 offers a 14.5 megapixel sensor and an optically stabilized 3.5x zoom starting at 28 mm equivalent. The S610 offers 10 megapixes and 4x stabilized zoom, while the 'C' version is the world's first to boast the easy-connect WiFi Protected Setup certification. All are available in a variety of colors such as "Urban Black" and "Sakura [cherry blossom] Pink."

I just picked up one of these Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens lenses for my Nikon D300 the other day. I am quite pleased with it. It is very sharp and light weight, making it a great carry around lens.

Nikon and DIY Back in college, I used to take long exposures of things at night. Using my trusty Nikon F2, I could manage this two ways. There was a “T” setting on the shutter dial; if I set that and clicked the shutter release, the camera would open up and stay that way until the shutter dial was set to a different selection.
