Microsoft Corp. and HOYA CORPORATION PENTAX has entered into a patent cross-licensing agreement to further the development of each company's current and future product lines. The agreement covers digital cameras made by PENTAX and according to trade pundits, Pentax is compensating Microsoft. May 22, 2008 - Pentax today announced the Optio W60, a new addition to its line of waterproof point-and-shoots. Made for the outdoor enthusiast, the W60 can dive to depths of 13 feet underwater for up to two hours and survive temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit. It features 10-megapixel resolution, an internal 5x optical zoom lens, a number of Scene modes and high-definition video capture. It will retail for $329.99 when it is released in July.

Recently Imaging-Resource posted some  test images from the Pentax K20D SLR and noticed "hot pixels". This bug has been now confirmed by Pentax USA who attribute this phenomena to the latest firmware and say it only occurs when the  2-second self-timer is employed. September 22, 2008 - Pentax today introduced the K2000 digital SLR, to be sold in a complete package with an 18-55mm lens and an external flash for $699.95 beginning in November. The 10.2-megapixel camera features a 2.7-inch LCD screen, built-in sensor-shift image stabilization, a sensor-shaking dust removal system and a dedicated Help button to display on-screen guidance for SLR newcomers.

Pentax unveiled their new DSLR at the Photokina 2008 in Cologne. The Pentax K2000 digital SLR is a 10.2-megapixel camera that comes equipped with features like; RAW Support, a 2.7-inch LCD screen, built-in sensor-shift image stabilization and a sensor-shaking dust removal. Targeted at beginners, the K2000's kit lens is  the smc Pentax DA L 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL and Pentax has also included the AF200FG external flash in the kit. No word on pricing or availability.
