K850i Cyber-Shot camera phone is Sony Ericsson’s flagship camera device, it was announced about six months ago and it hit the stores in Q4/2007. The K850i was a long waited handset because other manufactures already had their 5 megapixel camera phones out. The K850i is the successor of the K800i and it features 5 megapixel Cyber-Shot camera with autofocus and Xeon flash. Even that the camera is the feature why most people will buy this phone, the K850i has a lot more to offer than just a 5 meg

Sony announces the development of a 35mm full size 24.81 Mp, ultra-high speed high image quality CMOS image sensor. In recent years, the demand for digital SLR cameras with high resolution and wide graduation ranges has continued to increase, particularly among high-end amateur users. Additionally, the requirement to shoot from the same focal length and angle as 35mm film cameras using interchangeable lenses has led to development of this 35mm full size sensor. Sony plans mass production of the sensor within this year...

Pre-PMA 2008: In a surprise move Sony today announced its entry into the rapidly-expanding 24x36mm imaging sensor market with its own 24.81 megapixel CMOS offering. Joining Canon and Nikon in the full-frame market, this new chip promises to output all pixels at 6.3 fps with lower noise than other designs of similar pixel-pitch thanks to its “Column-Parallel A/D Conversion Technique” whereby each column of photosites is given its own Analogue to Digital Converter. The ADCs themselves are 12-bit, flying in the face of current trends which are toward 14-bit devices but the combination of speed, dynamic range and sheer resolving power displayed by this sensor make it one to watch for when Sony puts into full production hopefully before the year is out.

At first glance the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W200 looks like a fairly run-of-the mill compact camera, with an understated, compact silver body, 3x zoom lens (35-105mm) and 2.5 inch LCD screen. Look a little closer though, and you’ll find that there are some more impressive stand-out features. Most obvious is the headline-grabbing 12 megapixel resolution, now the standard for any self-respecting top-of-the range compact like the W200. Next up is true optical image stabilisation via Sony’s Super SteadyShot technology, which combined with the extensive ISO range of 100-3200 promises to make blurry photos a thing of the past. The Sony W200 also offers a true Manual shooting mode which allows you to set both the shutter speed and aperture, and there’s also an optical viewfinder for ease-of-use in bright sunlight. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W200 is therefore a mix of humdrum and rather more exciting features, on paper at least. Mark Goldstein tested the W200 in the short, dark days of an English winter to find out how it coped out in the real world.
